Volvo Cars, the Swedish automaker, has been in the business of making safe, comfortable, and stylish vehicles since 1927. In recent years, the company has been at the forefront of automotive electrification. The 2022 Volvo C40 Recharge is the latest example of this commitment. This all-new electric car is based on the same Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) that underpins the Volvo XC40 Recharge.

It shares many of its sibling's key features, including a 400-volt battery system, dual motors (one at each axle), and all-wheel drive. The C40 also gets unique styling cues that help it stand out from the rest of the Volvo lineup.

The C40 is an important car for Volvo because it's the company's first electric-only model. It's also the first car to be built on the CMA platform from the ground up as an EV. As such, it benefits from a number of advances that make it a more refined and capable car than its gasoline-powered counterpart.
