We all know the importance of having brake fluid in our vehicles. We understand that without brake fluid, your vehicle’s brakes won’t work, and the vehicle will not stop. Most drivers are aware that the brake fluid should be replaced every 30,000 to 50,000 miles. Occasionally, the vehicle may need it sooner. Here are some signs that your brake fluid needs to be replaced.

  • ABS Light comes on – If this light comes on, consider taking your vehicle to the dealership to have the brakes checked out.
  • Unfamiliar Brake Pedal – If the brake pedal feels different than it usually feels, inadequate brake fluid might be the culprit.
  • Unfamiliar sounds – If the vehicle is making screeching or squealing sounds, check out the brakes or brake fluid.
  • Burning Odor – If your vehicle has the smell of something burning, this could mean your brake fluid is burnt or in need of replacement.
